CVJS Houses & house points
At Churchdown Village Junior School, we have four house groups. When joining the school, each child is allocated a house in which they remain until they leave the school. All staff are also members of a house too.
The CVJS Houses
Our four houses are named after the first four headteachers:
Mr W Swift 1872 – 1907
Mr F Phillips 1908 – 1930
Mr H Lane 1931 – 1951
Mr M Shelley 1952 – 1971
House Points
Pupils are encouraged to do their best - whether in the classroom or around the school and staff award house points (Dojos) for good work, effort or contributions to the school community. When pupils have accumulated a certain number of house points, they are awarded a card in assembly to celebrate this. At the end of each term, a prize draw is made and all cards earned are entered into this draw. The online Dojo platform records all house points and the scores are shared at our termly Awards Assemblies. The current scores are as follows:
